About Me

My photo
I've been an artist my whole life and have had so many exciting art related jobs, which makes me kinda of a jack of a bunch of trades. I'm also college grad with a BFA and went to the High School of Performing & Visual Arts here in Houston. Visit my shop at Etsy and I promise you'll most likely receive a Smile to take with you! I decided to mention that about 10 years ago I was on chemo for 2 years. The chemo worked, but left me with other Heath issues, such as a case of Fibro which left me with having to get disability.Sad news, since I had a great career, that I can not work anymore. With my Faith and determination, I am determined to still do my art. My art gives me inspiration and thank you God! Oh, and please follow my blog! I'd love to have yall join me in my show and tells and also would love to hear what yall have to show and tell!:)

Friday Catching up Day!

I first want to say the painting above is a piece I was making on the day of 9-11 for my little children's book, "The Itty Bitty Kitty from New York City" as I was also still working only part time as an art teacher, due to being on chemo. The painting ended up being a Memorial to 9-11 and to those I had loved & had lost & I call it "I Love New York". I will never forget that day, it still haunts me to see the videos and will remain in my heart always. This is the day no one should ever forget & I don't think it takes living there for 12 yrs. to have a huge impact on anybody, especially here in America. I was in NY last year and we couldn't see ground zero as the place was fenced off. New York City did not feel or look at all the way it was when I lived there. It had lost part of it's charm in a way. I was told that the rich were moving in & the poor and homeless were moving out. All the neighborhoods looked the same somewhat to me, no character in all the nooks and cranies like before. Of course I was only there for one afternoon, but it just felt different after living there all those years in the 80's through the early 90's.

On a lighter note, some of yall may remember when my precious neice was just a pup in the 2nd picture, well here she is all grown up with her precious new hat on! I just had to share. Doesn't she look like she is posing for the picture!!! :)

Here is a beautiful shawl peggy made for me and I want to get another one from her for a friend that also has fibromyalgia. Are yall wondering what the heck is that huge white cotton ball whir on the top of the shawl is? It's Kenzie going all crazy about it being hers!!! It is actually mine, but she can share from time to time. It will be so snuggly and soft for winter and now it is thrown over my green couch & it looks gorgeous! Thank you so much Peggy!!! I know a lot of you pet lovers have a blanket from her and all she wants is for us to give charity to her animal cause. Unbelievable nice lady. I think we are keeping her really busy! :) Her blog is called Peggy's Place at: http://asti009.blogspot.com/
