About Me

My photo
I've been an artist my whole life and have had so many exciting art related jobs, which makes me kinda of a jack of a bunch of trades. I'm also college grad with a BFA and went to the High School of Performing & Visual Arts here in Houston. Visit my shop at Etsy and I promise you'll most likely receive a Smile to take with you! I decided to mention that about 10 years ago I was on chemo for 2 years. The chemo worked, but left me with other Heath issues, such as a case of Fibro which left me with having to get disability.Sad news, since I had a great career, that I can not work anymore. With my Faith and determination, I am determined to still do my art. My art gives me inspiration and thank you God! Oh, and please follow my blog! I'd love to have yall join me in my show and tells and also would love to hear what yall have to show and tell!:)

SERENDIPITY

Well, I've talked about venturing into a new technique to express my art and I have been obsessed with collage art! I have fibro and my work is getting very difficult to do, the sculptures especially, even painting....I not only love the look of collage but it is a blast to do using all my skills, I learned in my different art jobs before I got sick. Well, The Melange Team is a blog site I came across that has a few very talented collage art. I found that through http://mamapainter.Etsy.com. Her work is awesome and she suffers from arthritis and told me this would be a fabulous medium to use as it would be less stressful to my pain. So I saw on The Melange Blog that they were having a collage contest for everybody, not just their team and the subject matter's theme would be "Serendipity". I had other subjects I was going to do, but what a great way to get started on my very 1st collage!!! I played around with ideas in my head, maybe having a sick girl with no hope and then showing how there is indeed light after a very long tunnel, but then I thought that would be too much. I wanted to make something original that I could sell without having to sell the expensive prints. I used my clay and paper mache, ribbons, jewels, and cut out paper along with painting on a 8" by 10" stretched canvas board with 1 1/2" sides, that you don't have to frame. I had a blast making it and hopefully I have found the beginning of a new artistic experience! I need all the critiques yall can send to me. Be Honest! I also wonder what I could sell it for in my Etsy shop as an original. I have a tendency to go overboard and put way to many details in my pieces so I am trying to simplify.
EEEEEEeeeee.....So here goes!!!!
BTW...I took tons of pictures of it and these are the best pics that turned out. The words on the paper says: The Events that happen to a person are never the result of Chance, but of his own Thoughts and Choices. New Age Philosophy teaches that there is a Greater Power at work in the universe, & it is attributed to the God-like Powers within each person. Not Coincidence...

  2. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Your blog is wonderful, I love your fun art. I was an art teacher for 30 years and always enjoy seeing new art. You asked about the book Dewey. It's about a cat that lived in a library, hence Dewey (Decimal System). I was hoping someone would make a donation to the Cat Blogosphere for helping cats in need. Just a few dollars, 'cause every little bit helps.

  5. Sorry about not giving you an address for the CB kitty help page. I can't find it now either. I think it's usually only up when there is an auction going on. I've emailed ML to see if she would put it back up. Thanks for the offer, rainy day money is always good to have on hand.

  6. i love this linda! i can see why janes work sparked something in you. those atc and postcard blanks she uses are very cool. yes your mermaids will be perfect incorperated into a collage. so would your fairies and kittys.YES YES YES list them on etsy. i really have never been a follower of less is more. i love to load up the glitz. you can never have too much going on. one of my husbands big paintings in our livingroom has so much going on i seem to get more out of it everyday. i see nothing wrong with art by the pound.
