About Me

My photo
I've been an artist my whole life and have had so many exciting art related jobs, which makes me kinda of a jack of a bunch of trades. I'm also college grad with a BFA and went to the High School of Performing & Visual Arts here in Houston. Visit my shop at Etsy and I promise you'll most likely receive a Smile to take with you! I decided to mention that about 10 years ago I was on chemo for 2 years. The chemo worked, but left me with other Heath issues, such as a case of Fibro which left me with having to get disability.Sad news, since I had a great career, that I can not work anymore. With my Faith and determination, I am determined to still do my art. My art gives me inspiration and thank you God! Oh, and please follow my blog! I'd love to have yall join me in my show and tells and also would love to hear what yall have to show and tell!:)

My Foster Child, Monet

I haven't been around for quite some time and thought it was probably too late now to get noticed again, but I have to try at some point, right? I've recently been a cat sitter for a friend that is a cat rescuer and will be away until the end of August. I've been doing it now for a couple of months. Well, she found this little kitten that had been run over by a car and his head was smashed as well. A very long recoup. and now is 4 months old, but looks 4 weeks old. The sweetest thing in the world. He's been in my lap all day and loves to play and just give and take as much love as he possibly can. His name was Precious, but I didn't like that for a boy cat and thought his markings looked like an impressionist painting, plus if you look at his tail, it has rings around it and the tip looks like it's been dipped into white paint, so it looks like a paintbrush. I went over all the impressionist painters I like and Monet seemed to fit, alas that is where his name came from. I also have a grown cat, Kenzie that hisses at Monet or wants nothing to do with him. I have Monet in a 3 yard by 3 yard fenced in area in my living room. But I will let him free a lot to run and jump around. He follows me where ever I go. I was just wondering if he will ever be able to be potty trained? Or have any of yall heard of a mentally challenged cat that never learns how to be potty trained & yes I have done all what the books say about potty training, but have any of yall heard of a kitty like Monet?
Oh, Here's a picture yall have all seen of beautiful white female kitty named Kenzie:

  1. Bless your heart, Linda! My friend and I just today were talking of cats she'd seen at a no-kill facility; she was torn whether that was a good thing with some of them. A little love can go a long way though, don't you think?

I've never had a cat that didn't take immediately to the litter box so I'm not sure what the answer is for Monet, but I'm sure you can find one. In the meantime, enjoy his lovin'!

  3. Oh Monet is delightful though I am confused is he a boy or a girl cos in one post you say he's a boy and in the next you say her and she ;-)

As for the litter training...no good tips but if our puppy is anything to go by patience and perseverence! Our puppy is perfectly healthy though rather skittish and a border collie (so a bit mad by nature) we have had her from day one as she was the last of 8 puppies born to my doggy (she's actually my parents doggy although until next month we all live in the same house) Anyway we did our best to get our 8 puppy's on the toilet training mode before rehoming. They weren't totally trained but well on their way. Our puppy was doing ok until some ******* kicked her when she was a tiny 13 weeks old to protect his kids from this bouncing bundle of joy! that was it our traumatised puppy lost all skills in that area. Now as a family we have not had good health and so we haven't been able to put the necessary effort into toilet training but we persevered and it took time and we cracked it. she is now 2 and a bit and only toilets inside if desparate and we have ignored her pleas (or it's raining) She at least only goes in one place in the house (though sadly in the way in front of the front door! not great when the postman calls early) she gets lots of excited praise when we spy her doing her business in the garden! Keep it up Bess you are doing great :-)

Hope that gives you a little encouragement. Monet is very young still so lets hope he gets it soon. And maybe you're other cat will at least lead by example even if she is unhappy with the 'interloper' :-)

  4. Hi Teri,
Yes, I call him her all the time because he is so pretty and looks like he should be a she! Thanks for letting me know so I could change the "she" parts. Thanks so much for your wonderful encouragement! Kenzie is very jealous and scared of Monet. I don't know if that will ever change. For all I know, Monet may be confined in a fence all her life, but I do let her out a lot and once again she has fallen asleep in my lap after running all over the place for a couple of hours. Peed once. A week ago he wouldn't even clean himself and today he is doing that! Kenzie sleeps with me at night, and sleeps most of the day. Monet is a difficult situation, but I would hate to give him up when LeAnne gets back at the end of August. What to do. I guess time will tell. Thanks so much for writing to me and I will pray for your dog to learn how to not pee. I know a lot of dogs that pee under excitement. I have never had a cat, or kitten that didn't know how to use the litter box immediately. Shall I keep my little problem child? It breaks my heart. You have encouraged me though!!! :D
